School's In

Today was my first day at San Jose State University. There was a lot of Frosh stuff going on. It reminded me so much of Frosh week for Engineering at UofT. You probably wondering why I am going to this school. I am taking a Sociology Class which is a Humanities course credit that I need for my degree. This credit will transfer to my UofT Transcript.

Marcus, Tim and I are taking the class together and it is 3 hours of lecture each tuesday. The prof is really nice and knowledgable.

I must say, I think that this is the first time I have been happy about going back to school.

I hope all my friends back home have a great start to the School year!

Big Basin

Today (August 13th, I am a little behind) we went to Big Basin Redwoods State Park. This park is the oldest State Park in California; it was established in 1902. Big Basin is also home to the largest continuous stand of ancient coastal redwoods south of San Francisco. These trees are huge.

This one greeted us on our way into the park. It looks like it was burned. And for some reason it became hollow. I am still trying to figure out why it is like that. Lots of trees in the park look like this. They must have had a huge fire at some point.

We hiked up to the top of one of the peaks and got a cool view of the area. It took us about 2 hours to get up there and 2 hours to go back down. The girls packed a lunch for us to eat at the top. It hit the spot.

California is a very beautiful place to explore.

CompOption CaliBranch

As ambassadors to California, Eric, Marcus and I showed America how to kick it in the Comp Option Tradition. We went to University of Santa Clara where they have a cool Wings place called University Chicken. There were tonnes of students there, Some were getting initiated into Fraternities, and they were doing weird stuff. The wings were 35 cents each. I got 18 Nuclear Wings. !!!

Eric is in town visiting some relatives. He flew in from Calgary where he toured Jasper, Banf, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. His pictures look really good. Good to see you again man.

Marcus is pushing the wings, and they were damn good. Nuclear Wings with Sierra Nevada. How sweet. Reminds me of St. Louis Bar and Grill.

Comp Option, sorry I missed the last Bash we made up for it! Miss you guys and the great get togethers.
